Job Description

Social Workers are responsible for managing a caseload, carrying out complex investigations and planned assessments and providing written evidence based reports for highly complex cases. As a member of a multi-skilled teams, the post holders will be responsible for the holistic assessment of individuals and their carers’ need. You will be responsible for the day to day management of your assigned cases, intervening with legal and procedural authority to protect vulnerable people at risk or abuse or neglect; to use strength based and positive risk taking approaches to empower individuals to develop and sustain their capacities for independent living and in complex situations to try and prevent or resolve conflict which may place individuals at risk. This role must be able to work effectively as part of a team and along with a range of agencies and professionals, exercising professional judgement and using appropriate methods and interventions, values and knowledge base to work with adults and their carers to achieve the best possible outcomes. As part of the operating model for adult social care in Rotherham, this role will be required to implement a strengths-based approach to delivering Care Act outcomes, ensure that practice includes developing preventative approaches to informal and formal support and the commissioning of services. The role will include coaching and developing less experienced colleagues as required, working collaboratively with practice lead and quality assurance lead roles across the directorate. This role will require working flexibly and in an agile way, making sure that plans, agreements and reviewing and monitoring arrangements made in care cases, including Safeguarding. Social Workers are expected to keep accurate and up-to-date records and reports of all contacts (both written and verbal) compliant with best practice and legislative requirements of information governance. Key Shortlisting Criteria Significant relevant social care experience, including post and pre-qualifying experience in Social Care. Extensive knowledge of working with individuals with a learning disability is desirable. • Applying social work practice and social work theory to complex cases • Undertaking risk assessments and safeguarding investigations • Knowledge of other agencies and their role • Promoting and facilitating multi-disciplinary and partnership working with private, public and community/voluntary sectors • Knowledge of Government initiatives relating to social care • Practical experience of carrying out research and producing relevant reports

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Adults.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
