Job Description
Firstly we need to introduce you to the children and young people we support. They are young people who love visiting theme parks, keeping pet fish, playing football and rugby, and our young ladies love everything that involves hair and beauty, and much much more… Could you be the support worker and role model they need to help them live their best lives? Working as a Children’s Residential Support Worker, means you must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood. In return, you will be rewarded with a career defining opportunity to impact on an ambitious and rising Council, that places children at the heart of everything we do, and that is committed to staff retention, development, and equality. The nature of this role is to support Children and Young people in a residential home who display emotional and behavioural difficulties, by creating a home environment that exceeds the needs of the children and young people, enabling them to express their characters, feel safe and enrich their lives. The role will also require encouraging children and young people to fulfil a stable daily routine and achieve their best. That might mean supporting them to go to school, complete homework, attend parent’s evening or other educational events and meetings. Each day will be different, and the main focus of your role is to provide daily support in our residential services. It’s definitely not a normal 9-5, you can work days, nights, and flexible shifts too. Talking of ‘dream’ jobs, some of our shifts are sleep-ins! For weekend and sleep in shifts, you will gain pay enhancements on top of your basic salary. If you feel this is the calling for you, and you know you could make a difference in a child’s life, then we want to hear from you.
